Traditional November Birthstone: Topaz
With all the sparkle of more expensive precious stones, at a much more sensible price, topaz jewellery is fairly accessible ‘real bling’. Topaz can be yellow, blue, red, green, brown, violet or pink, depending on the inclusions or defects in the crystal structure. Almost all blue topaz has been created by heat treating colourless topaz. The most valuable form of Topaz is a rich orangey pink in colour and is known as Imperial Topaz (named in honour of 19th Century Russian Tzars).
The word Topaz is believed to be derived from the Sanskrit word for fire. The Ancient Greeks believed that Topaz could give them strength and in Renaissance Europe it was understood that the stone could break magic spells and dispel anger.
Topaz symbolises love and affection and is thought to confer intelligence and strength to its wearer.
Modern November Birthstone: Citrine
Sometimes called The Merchant's Stone, as it is believed to attract wealth and prosperity, yellow citrine is a stone of abundance and manifestation. It invites success and encourages generosity and the sharing of good fortune.  Jewellery containing citrine is the perfect good luck talisman for someone starting out on a new business venture or setting out on a new career path.
